The Weather Channel approached us to create a dynamic show package for their new short format show, ‘Weather Today.’ The show is on the mobile-only platform, Quibi, and is fast-paced, energetic, and brings viewers a daily overview of all things weather; daily reports, amazing weather moments, explaining fascinating weather phenomena, and more. The short format is geared towards the fast-paced interests of a younger audience that is often on-the-go.
We saw ‘Weather Today’ as a quick chat with a friend about the weather while you’re waiting in line for a coffee. The show needed to feel distinctive and unique in it’s design, but still be a recognizable extension of ‘The Weather Channel.’ We leaned into this conversational tone with our logo design, integrating a graphic speech bubble to house the ‘Weather’ type, and focused on a strong, grid-based approach that was colorful and branded but always let the content shine through.
